About Wong Kar-wai

He is a Hong Kong Second Wave filmmaker. His movie always about romantic. he shows  unique visual, highly stylized, emotional in his film. His famous movie including Chungking Express, Fallen Angle, 2046, In the Mood for Love and so on.

The relationship between Wong Kar-wai and The french Wave

Wong Kar-wai was affect by Jean-Luc Godard, Alain Resnais,  Eric Rohmer and Akira Kurosawa which all are the stand for The French Wave.
some people say that  Wong Kar-wai is the successor of Jean-Luc Godard. because both of them like wearing sun glasses. and they don't have a script when they are shooting. they like use editing to explain the story. and people always compare  their film together.

Alain Resnais has a movie <Last Year in Marienbad>. it use X, M, X to stead of characters's name. Wong Kar-wai's movie <Fallen Angle> also use this way. and some shots in Alain Resnais's movie<Les heroes folles> also familiar with Wong Kar-wai's movie<Chungking Express>

Wong Kar-wai is a fun of Eric Rohmer

About Chungking Express

this film separate by two stories which all written and directed by Wong Kar-wai

The first story stars Takeshi Kaneshiro as a cop who is obsessed with the break-up of his relationship with a woman named May and his platonic encounter with a mysterious drug smuggler (Brigitte Lin). about shots angle:

it is use very different angle to explain the story such as long tracking shots to fellow characters and explore the character's inward world.

my comment

i still remember the first story there is a angle is that the actress is running and camera  hold camera running fellow her. through this angle i even cannot see anything, but i can feel the upset atmosphere. these shooting technology they use can catch  audiences's eyeball and make them focus o

week 3 Italian Neorealism

this week i watch the movie Ladri di biciclette. its english name is "The Bicycle Thief".

this movie shows the story about a poor man he gets a job. this job must to have a bicycle. when he is doing his job, someone stolen his bicycle. so that he will lost his job and he cannot feed his family. after that he and his little son search everywhere in their town. at last he doesn't has choice he want to stolen others bicycle. but he is catched  by other people.
i think this movie shows a lot of society. poor people how they live. it reflect the fact that during that time european is really really poor.

and the most moment  chilling me is that the little son see his father stolen other guy's bicycle. i can see his emotion is sad, unbelieved, surprise. then his father is cathched by someone. he run to his father and hold his hand. i know his forgive his father. he know the situation about his home. at the and, he and his father walk into roman crowd. nobody know how they survive in this poor ago.

The Italian neo-realist film movement began around the end of WWII with Roberto Rossellini's OPEN CITY in 1946. It is defined and encapsulated by this striking film directed by Vittorio De Sica.this movie is stand of Italian style. in post-war 2 italy poverty is a dire reality for large portion of population. work is the most hard question that government must to solve it. show this movie is quietly one of the finest films ever produce.
